Drug awareness
Drug Awareness Talks for Schools & Youth Groups
Honest drug awareness talks from a man who spent over 20 years addicted to cannabis, heroin and crack, and nearly lost his life and his leg because of it.
Drug awareness
What the drug awareness talk covers
- How experimenting with cannabis can escalate to harder drugs
- Heroin, crack, cocaine, LSD and ecstasy: what they really do
- Addiction, injecting and the damage to your body
- How drugs destroy families and relationships
- Peer pressure and choosing your friends carefully
- Where to get help and support
Why it hits home
Paul tried cannabis at 13 with older boys. Within six months he was smoking it every day, lost interest in football and school, and was eventually excluded. It led to LSD, ecstasy and heavy drinking, and later to heroin and crack.
He spent around ten years living in crack dens, injecting up to 50 times a day and needing £400 to £500 a day to feed his habit. Two needle heads snapped off in his arms, and an infected leg almost had to be amputated. Young people see the scars for themselves.
Who it’s for
Paul speaks to primary and secondary schools, colleges, youth centres, pupil referral units, young offenders, football club community programmes, parents’ evenings and professional audiences. He tailors every session to the age group, from Year 4 to sixth form and young adults.
How the session works
A typical session lasts around 45 minutes, followed by around 15 minutes of questions and answers. Paul can deliver a whole-school assembly, a year group talk or a smaller workshop, and can combine topics to suit your school.

Feedback
What schools & young people say
Feedback has been excellent, students said “we have had drug talks at school, but nothing as informative as Paul’s talk”.
It’s a lot more hard hitting coming from someone who’s been there and experienced it personally, rather than just a teacher telling you about drugs in a lesson.
You give us the truth about drugs first hand which no teacher could tell us.
